Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: - Ephesians 1:3
Today, I will like to begin by stating that I am not against material prosperity. God desires that we prosper materially as long as it doesn't cross to covetousness. We see in 3 John 2, the Apostle John address a letter to Gaius:
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper (which speaks about material prosperity) and be in health (which speaks about physical prosperity), even as thy soul prospereth (which speaks about spiritual prosperity). (Emphasis added in parenthesis).
This writing was Holy Ghost inspired as is the whole Bible. The epistles are primarily written to the Church, and we are the Church, the body of believers. So this was addressing us too.
But I want to note that if as a believer, the only blessing one looks out for is material blessing, then there is a problem. If the money in your pocket or bank account is what solely determines if you will be joyful or not, then that is a problem.
My goal with this series on "You are blessed," has been to point us to the ultimate blessings we have in Christ which money can never buy. And that, that should be what we hinge our joy on. We should awake each day in appreciation of all that Christ has done for us.
The songwriter wrote:
Count your blessings, name them one by one
Count your blessings, see what God has done
Count your blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
In truth, if we count all Christ has done, we would literally be surprised at how blessed we are.
Today, we are in fellowship with God because Christ reconciled us to Him (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Today, we can come boldly to the throne of Grace because Christ has made a way (Hebrews 4:16). Today, God does not dwell in temples made by hands, He dwells in us individually (2 Corinthians 6:16). Think about that, God in His greatness, chose to dwell in us. Now that's something to wow our minds. Today, we stand holy and blameless before God because He chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless because He loves us (Ephesians 1:4).
Today, righteousness has been bestowed on us and now we can say we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). Not by what we have done or can ever do, but simply the Grace of God lavished on us. Today, we have the promise that we will spend eternity with Christ. We have been saved from eternal destruction. John 3:16 a popular text among believers, but let's go through it carefully. It says:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Question, do you believe? Then you will not perish; and you have everlasting life! All because of Jesus. These are things to be thankful for and to see how blessed we are. Friend, circumstances should never make you doubt how blessed you are in Christ. Remember always that you are blessed in Christ, because you are!
SAY THIS: I thank You Jesus for all You have done for me. I don't take lightly all that Your finished work through the Cross has done for me. I am blessed to belong to You forever. Today, I acknowledge You and say thank You for making me blessed in You. Amen
You are blessed. God loves you. Yes you!!!
