You Are God's Own (4)

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory- Ephesians 1:13-14

In the previous devotional, it was stated that it is not enough to know that Christ died and rose for us, we must realize that when He died, we died with Him. And when He rose, we rose with Him. And that His death was a death to sin. And we partook of that death. That means we also died to sin. And that is why Romans 6:14 says that sin no longer has dominion over us.

But what if a believer gives in to temptation and sins, what happens to him? Does he stop being God's possession? No he doesn't. In that moment he must realize that He has an advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous in Whom he receives forgiveness of sins. This is not the time to run from God, this is the time to run to Him.

1 John 2:1-2

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Now, you don't have to fall into sin, because sin no longer has dominion over you. But if you do, remember that you have an advocate, Jesus Christ. Remember that it's because of Him that you stand righteous, holy and blameless and appropriate forgiveness in your life. Remember that it is in Him you have forgiveness of sins and receive your forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7).

Jesus is the propitiation for our sins. And because of Him, God is not angry with us. God is pleased with us. In that moment of failure where a believer gives in to temptation, He must remind himself of God's Word which stands sure forever not our feelings that change; let go of condemnation because there is no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1) and go to God, not run from Him. Go to Him and receive forgiveness when you fail; never let anything hinder you in your relationship with God.

SAY THIS: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice on the Cross which has made me Yours and given me the power to live above sin. Thank You because in You I have received forgiveness of sins. Amen.

You are blessed. God loves you. Yes you!!!
