You Are God's Child (2)

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,- Ephesians 1:5

I love the song "I am no longer a slave to fear" by Bethel Music. Let's look at some part of the lyrics:

I am no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God (2ce)

From my mother's womb, You have chosen me

Love has called my name

I have been born again, into Your family

Your blood runs through my veins.

This is the picture of the man in Christ. If you believe in Jesus, this is the picture of you. You were chosen by God before the foundation of the world. His love has called your name. You are now part of His family. His blood runs through your veins. You are now a child of God. And that is why you are no longer a slave to fear. That is why you can cry Abba, Father. Or for some, Daddy, Daddy.

Sin separated us from our Father. But He came in flesh to redeem us and reconcile us to Himself so we can be a big happy family. John 1:1 says:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The Word here refers to Jesus. And if we read further in verse 14, it says:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God became man so He could redeem us from sin, and in the process reconciled us to Himself as His children. Oh, what a privilege we have. Oh, what love! We see in 1 John 3:1:

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

This should inspire thanksgiving, reverence and honor for a God Who loves His children that He came to earth to pay the price for our sins so that we could be reconciled to Him. If you read the "b" part of the text, it says, therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

This leaves us with a responsibility to fulfill. The reason why that unbeliever is still ranting is because they don't know Jesus. If they do, they would fall prostrate in awe of His love. But how will they know, if no one tells them about Him? That's where you come in. That's your primary assignment on earth; to see that people come to a knowledge of God. Will you play part? Friend, you are God's child if you believe in Jesus, now see to it that others become His children too. 

SAY THIS: Father, thank You for Your love bestowed upon me. Thank You for calling me Your child. I therefore go with a heart to see that those who don't yet believe in you, do so. Amen
